About Beer Now
Beer Now is a new conference that focuses on marketing, tourism, and communications for today’s beer industry. The event caters to breweries, brewery guilds, tourism promotion organizations, tour operators, bloggers, and writers. The conference will take place in Sheffield, UK immediately after and at the same venue as BeerX, the Society Independent Brewer’s annual meeting.
What You Get
Beer Now is designed to be small, intimate, and community oriented. Our sessions and speakers are excellent and are the main focus of the conference. All sessions take place in one room, encouraging group discussion and sharing of ideas.
But equally important is meeting your fellow attendees and having fun. Beer Now includes a Live Beer Blogging event carried over from the European Beer Bloggers & Writers Conference (you’ll love it), a Saturday late afternoon reception, Saturday dinner at Thornbridge brewery, and an optional pub crawl on Thursday evening and excursion to Manchester on Sunday afternoon.
Finally, your Beer Now ticket will give you access to many of the BeerX events on Friday.
Beer Now will take place at iceSheffield, which not only has two Olympic-sized hockey rinks but also has meeting and exhibition facilities. The following directions come courtesy of Andrew Cullen, Beer Matters Magazine Editor, Sheffield & District Campaign for Real Ale.
The Arena/Don Valley tram stop is just a couple of minutes walk across the grass bowl from iceSheffield, served by trams on the Yellow route which runs from Meadowhall Interchange rail station via the City Centre, University and Hillsborough to Middlewood. Trams run every 10 minutes in the daytime and every 20 minutes in the evening, with last trams around midnight. For visitors arriving at Sheffield rail station, connecting trams on the Blue or Purple route via Sheffield City Centre are available. More information can be found at www.supertram.com.
A tram dayrider ticket costs £3.90 or a weekly Megarider pass costs £13. Bus inclusive tickets are also available for just a little extra. Tickets can be purchased on board the tram from the conductor (cash only), alternatively day tickets are available on the Stagecoach Bus phone app and weekly smart card tickets can be ordered online from stagecoachbus.com.
Attendees at Beer Now from outside the area are free to book a hotel wherever they wish. There are a couple of hotels within walking distance of iceSheffield, including the Premier Inn and an ibis hotel.
However, we suggest you book the Novotel Hotel at Arundel Gate in central Sheffield. Not only is this in a nice area of the city but it will be the start of the Thursday pub crawl and drop off point for the Saturday evening dinner. At the time of this writing, non-refundable rates including breakfast are £68 (or £88 with ability to cancel).
You can book directly on the Novotel website or use this special booking.com link which will provide you a £10 discount and our hard-working Sheffield-based marketing person Jules with a £10 commission!
Backup hotels in the Novotel area are the Mercure St. Pauls on Norfolk Street and the Jurys Inn on Eyre Street.
If you are planning to do the post-con excursion to Manchester and need to stay in that city on Sunday night, the easiest option might be the Doubletree Hotel near the train station.
If you are in the beer industry and in need of marketing services, consider our sister company Zephyr Strategy. An initial analysis of your digital marketing is only $500.
The Beer Now Conference is organized by Zephyr Conferences, organizer of the:
- Beer Bloggers & Writers Conference
- Beer Marketing & Tourism Conference
- Wine Bloggers Conference
- Wine Marketing & Tourism Conference
- International Food Blogger Conference
Beer Now is an evolution of the European Beer Bloggers & Writers Conference (EBBC), which ran the past six years in four different European countries. In 2017, we are also organizing a Beer Marketing & Tourism Conference (BMTC) in Asheville, North Carolina and Beer Now is a combination of the EBBC and the BMTC.
In truth, we are simply a bunch of active travelers who have been running tours around the world for 20 years as part of Zephyr Adventures and Taste Vacations. We love beer, wine, and food in addition to travel so, about fifteen years ago, we started running active tours focused on these aspects of our culture. That got us into conference organizing in the same industries. But everything we do is still all about doing what we love.
