Let There Be Beer is offering two £500 scholarships to two UK bloggers for the 2013 European Beer Bloggers Conference.
Let There Be Beer is a collaboration which aims to encourage the reappraisal of beer and focuses on demonstrating the diversity of the category. Comprised by some of the world’s biggest brewing companies, national brewers, publicans, retailers, organisations such as the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) and support from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Society of Independent Brewers, Let There Be Beer celebrates the very best of brewing.
Let There Be Beer is for the entire beer category, with those involved working together for the good of beer and brewing. The scholarship’s aim is to cultivate and support true advocates for beer. Launched at the end of June, the Let There Be Beer movement can be found on facebook and twitter. A website will be launching on August 11th.
The scholarship will cover attendance and travel costs of two lucky bloggers who have already registered for, or are still hoping to attend the conference, happening this weekend in Edinburgh. See below for more information on how to win one these scholarships.
How to apply?
The travel stipends will go to two Citizen Beer Bloggers located in the UK. Winners can be already registered to attend the conference or can be still in the planning stages – but must ultimately register and attend to receive the scholarship. To apply, simply leave a comment on this blog post before 3:00 PM GMT tomorrow, July 11, with your blog name. And be prepared to pack your bags, ready to head to Edinburgh!
Term’s and Conditions

Unfortunately I was unable to attend last years event in Leeds due to a family commitment and was indeed hoping to go this year however my finances have become focussed on moving house.
To be offered the chance to be part of EBBC2013 would be fantastic, however I feel it fair to say that I would not be able to travel up to Edinburgh from London until early on Saturday morning.
Whoever wins though, I’m sure they will have a fantastic time. Thank you for offering this opportunity.

Well I’d be mad not to want to add a comment here, right?
Claire says
Hmm, not sure my comment made it up?

Sure, if all I have to do is comment here – no brainer! 🙂
Was reticent about EBBC due to travel/etc costs & not being a power-blogger. Utterly love Edinburgh though.
Squid travels free… 😉
(Hrm, 2nd try … 1st comment got swallowed?)
Allan says
This comment went through. You should definitely not be reticent about the conference because you are not a “power blogger”. I think you’ll find all the bloggers are there to learn and all are happy to share.
Yvan Seth says
@Allan: More clearly the travel/accom/time cost would be more justifiable if a power-blogger. (No probs with the citizen blogger ticket cost, note!) Think EBBC is an excellent thing to have on the UK beer calendar.
P.S. I think perhaps I had problems with my original comment because I included the link to my site… maybe because it ends in an odd TLD some anti-spam thing kicked in?
Allan says
That is what happened. Two comments went into spam.
I very much understand about the costs. On the other hand, attending a conference might be the path towards becoming a power blogger!
Baron Orm says
My first comment was swallowed to for some reason?
Allan says
It got up too. Not sure why it appears they get swallowed.
Yvan Seth says
Think the Web-2.0-ey comment-entry form is a little glitchy. Second time showed me the “awaiting moderation” & the 1st time nothing, just vanished. All good now 🙂

This is a very generous offer. Very excited about the weekend.

Well… if all I have to do for a chance is comment here, then duh… 🙂 Have been reticent about EBBC – down to costs & travel (and not being a power-blogger).
I come with squid, but usually squid can travel free.

Sounds like a stipendously good promotion.

Wouldn’t mind a scholarship myself.
Sam Parker says
Let There Be Beer is a great concept and will hopefully not only help to promote beer but will also help towards changing people’s social perceptions of the drink. I’m certainly going to be in Edinburgh and would urge you to join me!
