A note from our EBBC15 Partner, Hotel Marivaux
The Marivaux Hotel, former theatre and cinema, is honoured to welcome all beer bloggers to the EBBC15 conference!
Ask anyone for 3 good reasons to visit Brussels and “For the beers!” will most certainly be mentioned. Granted, there’s the food and the monuments and the history and all but beer is really what Brussels (and Belgium) is all about.
Growing up in this cosmopolitan city, tasting your first beer is as much an initiation ritual as taking your first metro, going out to your first summer park festival and being asked for directions in a myriad of foreign languages.
Brussels is home to over 160 nationalities and you could say that there’s a beer for each and every taste. From the mass produced pale lagers to the microbreweries that produce small quantities of unique beers and the illusive “Trappists”, the world of Belgian beers is worth experiencing.
Have you ever really lived until you’ve uncapped a Barbar Blond bottle on a sunny terrace, savouring the smooth and refined liquorice spice? Or until you’ve found shelter from the rain in a Brussels’ café, drinking a Rochefort 10: the reddish dark Trappist with caramel and plum aromas that will warm you through and through? Definite proof of your visit to Brussels has to be a selfie with a Kwak beer – the distinctive glass is perfect for such an occasion.
My personal favourite is the Pêche Mel’Bush, a blend of Pêcheresse beer (peachy!) and Bush beer. Not for the light hearted though as the Bush beer’s alcohol volume is a whopping 12%! Add the Pêcheresse to your own taste or stamina… Beware!
Many beers can be relished in the Brasserie Meat Me of the Hotel, where the focus clearly lies on Belgian beers.
Are you wondering how the Marivaux Hotel is the ideal location for this year’s conference? Easy answer: it is simply perfect for having discussions about beer, live beer blogging, and presentations about our favourite subject. And better yet…maybe even sampling some beers.
Are you wondering what the Marivaux Hotel has to offer? Well that is what makes us exclusive here in Brussels..! You will have the unique opportunity to meet in what is a renovated movie theatre and the former cinema ticket hall. Impressed? We certainly are as both the history and the modern touch of the Marivaux are guaranteed to make for an enjoyable beer blogging time!
Looking forward to the EBBC15 conference? We definitely are! See you soon…
