European Beer Bloggers & Writers Conference attendees now have the option to register for a pre-conference and a post-conference excursion. If you’ve already registered for #EBBC16 but would like to add a Pre-Conference or Post-Conference Excursion click here. If you have not registered for EBBC16 you can register for one or both excursions when you register for the conference.
Each excursion is 20 Euro. This cost covers your meals, tours, and tastings. You can always reference the Excursions link on this site for excursion updates and information.
Thursday, August 18 Den Bosch Pre-conference Excursion
The EBBC16 pre-conference excursion will take place in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. The excursion includes transportation upon your arrival in Den Bosch, lunch, dinner, an easy 30 to 45 minute bike ride, a canal tour and three private brewery tours and tastings including a visit and tasting at La Trappe. An evening pub crawl will also be organized for those who choose to spend the evening in the city.
We recommend participants spend the evening in Den Bosch at the Hotel Golden Tulip Central. Your room is included in your pre-con registration fee (ie; “it’s on the house).
Participants will be shuttled via coach back to Amsterdam.The excursion starts at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 18 at the s-Hertogenbosch Train Station in Den Bosch. Conference registration and lunch starts at 11:00AM on Friday, August 19th which gives excursion participants plenty of time to wake up in Deb Bosch, enjoy a nice breakfast, maybe go for a nice walk through the picturesque city that morning and then jump on a train to Amsterdam. 11:00 AM Den Bosch Pre-conference Excursion pick-up at the Golden Tulip Hotel in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
11:30 Guided tour through the Abbey where you learn all the secrets about the production.
12:30 Lunch on the lovely terrace and taste the excellent La Trappe Beer.
13:30 Optional guided cycle trip in the green area of the Koningshoeve Abbey.
14.30 Tasting at the 400 years old brewery ‘de Oirsprong’ in the charming village of Oirschot
16:00 Drive to the historical City of s-Hertogenbosch where the famous painter Jheronimus Bosch lived and worked around 500 years ago.
17:30 Boat tour along the narrow canals where you will listen to the stories and see the fantastical figures of this medieval town.
19:30 Dinner in Beer Cafe and Brewery Bar le Duc where you will enjoy the beer menu.

09.30 Departure from Den Bosch to Amsterdam
Sunday, August 21 Brouwerij De Molen Post-conference Excursion
The EBBC16 post-conference excursion will take place at Brouwerij De Molen in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. The excursion includes a private tour, tastings, and a lunch. The brewery’s tap room also hosts six or seven guest taps featuring delicious craft beers from other breweries in the region. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the brewery’s impressive bottle shop which carries craft beers from around the globe.
This excursion starts at 11:00AM at the brewery in Bodegraven on Sunday, August 21. Participants must get themselves to and from Bodegraven which is about a one-hour train ride from Amsterdam. The tours, tastings, lunch and conversation will end around 2:00PM which should give everyone plenty of time to return to Amsterdam around 3:00PM or continue on to other destinations. Single train tickets cost €9,50 but if people take a group ticket on the internet they can have transport both ways for €70 (for 10 persons).
