I’m an avid beer drinker, which as a German is the manner to which I was born. But even though I have a background in hospitality, I never really got into the process of making beer—I found myself being way better at enjoying beer than analyzing it. For the longest time I also thought I like all kinds of beer, that was until I tried my first Sour beer. I started my beer blog after I came across a photo blog where the author posted a photo every day of what ever they were doing at a specific time of day. I figured that would be way to0 much work, but I could post a picture of every beer I was drinking! So I started doing that and now have almost 300 posts of different beers. With the vast majority in the Hefeweizen category.
Over the last few years, blogging has changed quite a bit. Not only has technology evolved, readers have more freedom over how they consume their content, and how to interact with it. Through working on WordPress I regularly get to talk to users at conferences, and I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned in “The World of Blogging with WordPress.com“.
I will also go over some of the things that WordPress has to offer that can make your blogging lives easier, improve reader engagement, and give you a better idea about who your readers are. And last but not least, a look into what the future might hold for blogging as a whole, and WordPress specifically.
Open source WordPress is the most popular online publishing platform, currently powering almost 24% of the web. WordPress.com is a hosted version of the open source software. Here, you can start a blog or build a website in seconds without any technical knowledge.
Overall, the WordPress.com network welcomes more than 400 million people viewing about 19 billion pages each month. Our users publish 56 million new posts and leave 68 million new comments each month.
The presentation is going to be about blogging, and ways that WordPress makes it easy to publish content on the web. WordPress is a full fledged content management system, so it can be used in many other ways besides blogging. If the listener is running a website, chances are that they’ll learn a thing or two about how WordPress does things that are different to what they’re used to on their site.
I look forward to presenting at the 2015 European Beer Bloggers & Writers Conference as well as learning from all the great beers we will be exposed to at the conference!
