The EBBC16 pre-conference excursion: a chance to experience the renowned hospitality of Brabant, the Netherlands, and taste the finest beers of the region by visiting three famous breweries!
The starting point of the excursion is the lovely historical city centre of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. From here the excursion includes hotel, lunch & dinner, an easy 30 to 45 minute bike ride, a canal tour and three private brewery tours and tastings, including a visit and tasting at La Trappe. To make sure you have a comfortable and relaxing experience, the excursion includes bus transportation to all locations and your hotel stay at the Golden Tulip Central (what a treat!).
Immerse yourself in the life of the Trappists and experience the mystical atmosphere of the Koningshoeven Abbey which brews the renowned ‘La Trappe’ beer.
The sampling room is located in the middle of the beautiful gardens of this Trappist monastery.
The provinces North Brabant, Limburg and Antwerp offer an inspiring cycle route alongside 5 abbeys with Trappist beers. We will guide you during a short cycle trip of 45 minutes so you can enjoy the beautiful countryside and villages with their charming street cafes.
During this short trip we will stop at a very special brewery in the charming village of Oirschot. The zytologist of the brewery ‘de Oirsprong’ will tell you all about the 400 years of brewing experience. We will finish the tour with a tasting of the local beers.
This is where we leave our bikes and return to the historical city centre of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where life is good and the nights are long. It is considered one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands. It is also the place where the famous painter Jheronimus Bosch lived and worked around 500 years ago.
You will experience all about his wondrous work and life during the Bosch Experience boat tour along the narrow canals. The Binnendieze is the collective name for the centuries-old system of waterways within Den Boschs’walls.
When evening falls, a lovely dinner awaits you, including a tasting of the beer menu at Bar le Duc, which is only 5 minutes away from your hotel. After dinner you will have time to stroll around the market square of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Participants on the excursion will get to enjoy one night at the Hotel Golden Tulip Central in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
After breakfast you can enjoy a relaxing morning and further explore the city. Later on during the day we offer you free transport back to Amsterdam by coach.
A not to be missed cultural and gastronomic experience in the heart of the Netherlands.
