We have added an exciting post-conference excursion for the European Beer Bloggers Conference on Sunday, July 14th – a day trip to Traquair House Brewery! Plus, see below for a chance to win an overnight stay at the mansion.
Traquair House is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house dating back to 1107 when it was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. The brewery on the property dates back to the 18th century, and production was rekindled in 1965 by Peter Maxwell Stuart, 20th Laird of Traquair. Today, the brewery is managed by his daughter, Catherine Maxwell Stuart, who is hosting the excursion.
The cost for this excursion is £10 per blogger, and there’s a 15 person limit for this excursion to the Traquair House. The first 15 registered conference attendees who request to be on the excursion will receive a spot.
At 10am on Sunday, July 14, Traquair will pick up participants in Edinburgh and transport everyone to the brewery for a tasting, tour, and lunch. Lunch will be provided in the 1745 Cottage Restaurant. Participants will be returned to Edinburgh by 3:30pm to catch afternoon trains out of the city and back home.
Two lucky bloggers who register for the conference by May 1st will be rewarded with an overnight stay in the Traquair Castle!
Instead of returning to Edinburgh with the rest of the group, these two lucky bloggers will remain at Traquair where they’ll get to experience more of the property and stay in the castle’s luxurious Bed & Breakfast that is adjacent to the brewery.
This stay includes a full Scottish breakfast the next morning and transportation back to Edinburgh at 10am on July 15th.
Anyone who is already registered for EBBC13 and/or who registers for the conference by May 1st, 2013 will be automatically entered to win this overnight stay at Traquair.
If you’d like to reserve your spot on the day trip to Traqauir, please register for EBBC13 as soon as possible. When you register, in the field titled “Do you have any other comments or questions for us?” add the words “TRAQUAIR”. If you have already registered for the conference and want to add this excursion, please email us: sonya at zephyradventures dot com. There is a strict limit of 15, including the winners of the overnight stay, so sign up is on a first come, first served basis.

Did I write the magic word “TRAQUAIR” when I registered? I surely meant to. If I didn’t, is there any chance there’s still room? I so surely doubt it!
Elspeth, you did not sign up for the Traquair excursion. There is room. I’ll email you separately.
