What do you get when you get ~150 beer bloggers together for 3 days of tasting, content and networking at a conference? You get over 6000 tweets, loads of photos, tons of amazing beer consumed and logged into Untapped, and an all around good time.
A passion for beer and an inkling to blog about it are the only requirements to join (and perhaps a bit of stamina to get you through the action-packed schedule). We were thrilled to see the great mix of alumni and new attendees this year. Friendships were formed, blog collaborations formed, and great business and networking introductions made.

Below is a summary and collection of tweets from attendees of the conference from Friday, July 26th during the opening trade show, evening at Boston Beer Company, and party with Heavy Seas.
The conference officially started off with a trade show in the lobby of our host hotel, The Boston Park Plaza. Here, bloggers got to pick up their complimentary Hydro Flask growler, taste an assortment of beers and meet with conference sponsors.

Evening at Samuel Adams
After the trade show, we all got on buses that took us to the Boston Beer Company – makers of Samuel Adams. There was a palatable excitement in the air, and everyone was eager to see what the night had in store.

Once we all got inside the brewery, there were cans of Samuel Adams Boston Lager on all of our chairs, which were enjoyed as we listened to Julia Herz welcome everyone and open up the conference by delivering an inspiring talk on the beer industry and the role of beer bloggers in it.

A highlight of the entire conference was that Jim Koch not only gave a fun and personal keynote, but that he took each and every one of us into the barrel room and chatted with us while he poured us Utopias. WOW!

Heavy Seas Pyrates, Pints & Poets Party
After we said our goodbyes to Jim and his crew at Samuel Adams, we all headed to Stoddards Fine Food and Ales for the Heavy Seas Pyrates, Pints & Poets Party, where we all had to put on our thinking caps and come up with some beer inspired limericks!
Great time at @StoddardsPub for the @HeavySeasBeer party at #bbc13! Very fine ales indeed!

A quick note and photo from the organizers of the good folks at Heavy Seas:
We will be contacting the winners from our drawing and then mailing out their pyrate swag, as well as something for everyone who had submitted a Haiku prior to the conference! If there is anything else you would like to know about Heavy Seas, please contact us any time.
And so with that, our night ended, and everyone ran off to bed… or possibly stayed up until 3am tasting more beer and exploring Boston. Part III, a recap of Saturday’s full agenda is up next.
